SORDID LIFE DETAILS
Gail Giewont grew up in the small town of Albion in Pennsylvania. It had a lot of cows and currently houses the third oldest wooden carousel in the United States. Pieces of wooden animals littered her childhood home.
After graduating from Allegheny College with a double major in English and music, she received both her MFA and MAT from the University of Pittsburgh. After bouncing aimlessly from one job to the next, she now works at the Appomattox Regional Governor's School for the Arts and Technology in Petersburg, Virginia, where she teaches poetry, English, journalism, and literary magazine creation--and next year, yearbook.
She has had poems published in many reputable literary magazines and is currently working on a young adult fantasy novel because that is something poets totally do. The book is about a teenage girl named Penny, interdimensional magical creatures, football, and attractive boys in cemeteries.
She lives in North Chesterfield, Virginia with her three dogs--Charlie, Nomi, and Greta--and her tolerant husband, Chuck. She is a proud auntie to the best twin boy and girl in the universe.
She maintains a long-lasting affection for honeybees.
